Will's first Baptism

Two Weekends ago Will was able to do his first two baptisms. Mayra was in the morning service and Michael was in the Sunday night service. I didn't have the fancy camera in the morning service so I only got one with my old camera of Mayra. At the night service, we were like the paparazzi, Deven (Will's former intern) snaped some great shots. I thought it was fun to share.

Oma's Birthday Weekend at Chimney Valley Lodge!

Now that I am over a month late on posting these pictures I will probably give less detail. I wanted to share with everyone though the wonderful weekend we had to celebrate Mom's birthday. New Town, New Home

So we are finally back! The Crum family has moved and after a very very long house buying process we are in! I am still in the mist of a few boxes, but we have already had the college group over three times. We are having a great time learning about the "Joys of Homeownership" as my dad would say.

In all our years of apartment hopping I have wanted to paint. So with some deliberation and some sound advice I picked some colors and we went to work.

All sorts of volunteers came out of the wood work.

After a long moving day Liam explored his new house with all of our stuff in it.

Liam's funny birthday!

I wanted to get Liam out of the Apartment full of boxes, which seem to be the source of some confusion for him lately. It has to be unsettling for a 2 year old to have all of your stuff put in boxes. So we went to the playground at the Galleria. Because of the slight rainy weather every other mom in DFW seemed to have the same idea. Liam soon became bored with the playground and we walked around the mall for a bit. I had remembered that I wanted to get Liam a rangers hat and that I had seen them at Buy Buy Baby for cheap. So I told Liam that we were going to go get him a birthday hat. He talked about it all the way to the store. When we got there they didn't have the kind I had seen before, but low and behold they had little aggie hats.

After the birthday hat we went to Lunch at Los Cucos. My mom had brought some birthday candles we must have sung Happy Birthday and re lit the candles at least 10 times. We put the candles in Salsa.

During nap our day took an unexpected change when we found out that Will and I had to buy a range for our house before it was even ours, so the last part of Liam's birthday was shopping for ranges. ...fun!

We stopped at Tin star to get some supper and saw a limo drive up. A family got out and Pops in his usual fashion asked about it. The man said we could go look in it if we wanted. Liam was a little scared of if but Pops got in with him and called up to the driver to order some grey pupon.

The guy said he got it on Ebay for fun. It is the family car. He asked his kids what would be a fun family car and they jokingly said a limo. He payed 4,000 for it and they take it around town. what fun!

Safety first!

When the packing for Greenville really got going I put out a huge box for him to climb in, He LOVES it.

Now would be a good time to explain the sticker on his head. It is actually a band aid. At out apartment pool party Liam took a spill face first into the leg of a lounge chair. Learning my lesson from his nose I put a band aid on it to curb the picking at the scab. He didn't want to take it off. I was shocked that he kept it on but everywhere we went people kept saying cool sticker.

Dinner with Baby Ginny and Legacy Town Center

The weather is finaly cooling down here in Texas! knock on wood though because before I can say jacket it will be right back up in the 100s. We took advantage of it while we could.

We went to dinner with the Lyons and then strolled one of our favorite places, Legacy town center.

(Legacy town center is where I had my fist job after college, holly and Clint got engaged and where Will and I had our wedding reception, it holds lots of memories for us.)

They have a neat play room that has a cool gate. All the toys are in that room and Liam loves to wrangle the adults in there with him to play.

Liam's 2 year Birthday Boat Party

This past weekend we celebrated Liam's 2 year Birthday with a boat party!

We had a blast, check out our pictures:

Boat Cake, Liam helped Oma make some of Gigi's famous sugar cookies in the shapes of anchors and sail boats.

We named the cake M.Y. Liam. M.Y. stands for Motor Yacht.

Moi brought her famous and super delish deviled eggs. Cousin Will helped me by putting the sails Liam and I made in them. (I figured I better stay far away from those tooth picks.)

We have had so many days of over 100 degree heat, it has been still and oppresive. This morning there was a slight breeze, warm, but still a breeze. We were thankful for it but I couldn't keep my Happy Birthday sign out of the tree. Oh well, I would much rather have the breeze.

Mommyhood is dangerous!

This past week I have notice how dangerous mommy hood can be. I have encountered at least three physical injuries just this week.

The first two were from the notorious parenthood job hazard of toys on the ground.

Liam just inherited some new hand me down toys from his cousins. He loves them and is always carrying them from room to room. A certain Army Jeep had been moved to our room just under the corner of our bed. I had already stepped over it a few times, in fact I had just stepped over it a few seconds before I kicked is to hard I had to lean over on the bed for a while. I looked down latter and realized my toes were bleeding. I threw a band aid on it. and chalked that one up to forgetful mommy brain.

Sunday I was walking away from an uncharacteristically emotional nursery drop off at our new Church and stepped on a choo choo train. I rolled my ankle and gracefully dropped almost all the way to the floor before declaring "I'm good." to the students and nursery workers. I walked it out and my ego was more bruised than my ankle.

Now for the doozy! Warning: if you don't like gross pictures you may not want to scroll down.

Yesterday, Liam and I were making sails for the deviled eggs Moi is going to bring to Liam's birthday party. I was gluing triangles to toothpicks. Liam was being a helpful little guy, as he usually is, and was taking out the toothpicks from the jar for me. One must have escaped with him to his room. Will was in Greenville the the Wednesday night revolution, so I was preparing to put Liam to sleep. I was holding Liam taking him to the diaper changer to put pj's on, when I heard a crack and felt a sharp pain in my foot. I looked down to find a toothpick sticking out of my second toe. Uhhhh, now what.

I set Liam down so I didn't drop him and sat down to inspect my foot a little further. I thought it was just the tip but when I looked closer I could see that it was actually IN my toe. I was having flashbacks of Laura's Mesquite thorn episode. (As kids, we were camping and she got her hand caught on one, she yanked it out and about a month later had to have surgery to remove the part that was left in it.)

I hobbled over to the diaper bag to call Mr. Wilderness himself, my dad.

Drat, I left my phone in the car. I did however find my camera so I snapped a fast picture then hobbled out to the car to find my phone. Liam close behind me, to help mommy. I had given him a box of band aids to help me with my boo boo. They were conveniently on the table from my last run in with Liam's toys. I snapped another pic on my phone and sent it to Will and Dad.

Should I pull it out? What if I left some in there? What if I get little splinters when I pull? I called Dad and explained the situation. It hurt when I touched it so you can imagine my joy when Dad said I had to just yank it out really fast. OH where was Will? I asked dad if he thought my neighbors would think I was weird if I asked them to pull something out of my foot? He offered to get in the car and come pull it out for me. "No, no" I said, "I'm tough." Liam opened a few band aids for me while dad coach me on how to correctly remove it. I had dad count for me. One, Two, Three, PULL! EEEEK.... oh.... it wasn't so bad. It stung a bit but when it was out the pain stopped. It is a little sore today but I guess I will find out if I got it all in a few month. (he he, no I did, I could see it.)

I was about 2 1/2 cm into my toe.

No more toothpicks are on the floor and I am making a concerted effort to make sure all the toys are out of my walking area. Next time I am in the church nursery I will watch my step. But I have learned this week that to be a mommy you have got to be tough. Or at least resilient!

The Crum's Go to the Circus

So I just realized I loaded up the pictures then never published the blog.

We took Liam to the Circus the other day. He watched the Entire thing!

His new favorite toy a hand me down Handy Manny, I didn't know handy manny had a motorcycle until the other day. He loves it and takes it everywhere. It talks and he repeats everything , Thanks Andy and Ainslee

In the Footsteps of Jesus

As I was packing up Will's Books the other day, I found a book on tape that I had yet to listen to. It was called In the Footsteps of Jesus: One man's Journey through the life of Christ, by Bruce Marchiano. When I was in High school Matthew, a movie from the Visual Bible came out. It was a word for word reenactment from the NIV Bible. My dad brought home the VHS set of 4 tapes (yes VHS! And I still use my VHS by the way) and I watched them over and over. I loved it!

I remember being drawn to Jesus. Most Jesus movies portrayed Jesus as a solemn, stoic man, which is confusing and counter to his joyful nature. This Jesus smiled! He showed his love in everything even when he was angry with the pharisees. It is one of my favorite movies!

The book on tape that I found was a biography from the man who played Jesus, Bruce Marchiano. He tells about his experience playing the son of God. I listened to it on my way to and from Greenville. I must have cried 8 or 9 times. It is so hard to understand the depth of God's love for us, the true depth of his love. I now understand why I was drawn to this portrayal of Jesus so much. It is because God had his hand in the making of this movie, from beginning to end. I wish everyone could see the movie and read this book.

He has other books now too, maybe I can order those and read them. Ever since I finished the book I haven't been able to think about what Bruce's experience must have revealed to him about our Father. I want so badly to know Christ that deeply too, and yet I don't think I could handle it. It is like when God protected Moses from seeing all of him. Moses couldn't handle all of God's Glory,

and I know I can't either, but my feeble mind longs to know Christ more.

At the very least I want to know him as much as I can handle this side of heaven.

This Wednesday Liam and I surprised Will in Greenville. We took him to dinner before Revalution, the mid week student Bible Study. Then after the bible study everyone sang to him and we had cake. Cheryl was so sweet to pick up the cake for me. Deven had this great idea to put this picture on the cake. It is from this past week at Texas Stadium.

Cowboy's Stadium

Last Thursday Will and I Joined the Students for a tour of Texas Stadium. Or should I say Jerry's World. It was so opulent it was almost ridiculous. If there is a was to make money off of having money, Jerry has put it in there. I forgot my camera so I used Will's new phone. Some of the pictures are blurry because I didn't hold it still enough, but for the most part isn't too bad.

We went into the Cowboy Cheerleader's dressing room. Londa said that in the old stadium they all had to share 2 outlets. now they each have their own two outlets as well as mirrors and lockers.

Let me stop here for a brief soap box moment:

You know it is interesting, as I get older my eye rolls get bigger and bigger about the cowboy cheerleaders. I don't know if they were less sexual when I was little or if I didn't notice because they were so beautiful. My first dance teacher Courtney was a cowboy's cheerleader and she could really dance. I thought they were so cool, now all I notice when I see them on tv is the small outfit and the hair flying everywhere. Now don't get me wrong I am all for hair down in dance, for artistic purposes. (It always bothered me to have it down when when I was dancing, but I can see how in a modern/contemporary it would be great.) But the hair whipping is a bit excessive with these girls. I think they have forgotten that young girls really look up to them. I think now it is all about selling tickets. If that is all girls see as professional dancers then they lose the artist expression of dance all together. There is no doubt those girls can dance, but I don't think they show it at all during the games.

Under the Stairs at Oma and Pops' house have seen many of fun play days... and nights. We used to build forts and set up the Christmas train under there. Now Oma has a little reading nook for the grand kids. It is so sweet to see them run under there and curl up with a good book!

My friend Jeni Land emailed this link to me today. It was a blog I had never heard of before. The article is titled "I want a lot of Children". I started crying then laughing, then sighing, then laughing again. If you are a mom, soon to be mom or want to be a mom some day you should read it. so cute! If you are a dad, soon to be a dad, or want to be a dad someday you should read it too. I think it may give some insight into mommy world. It kind of reminds me of our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) theme last year, Life on Planet Mom. Some of the things she points out in this blog article, we have all gone through, and probably have all felt. Which makes parenthood all the more special. It is so unique, and yet so universal.

Ask God, Boom Boom Come?

Yesterday, Liam and I were about to go run to the store when I heard rain out side. Heavy rain. The sun was shining and the rain was pouring sown hard. I love sunshine rain, it is so happy. I opened the blinds all the way for Liam to see and showed him how the sky was blue. His response was "Boom boom come?"(That is what he calls thunder) I said it probably wouldn't because I didn't see any thunderheads, but that only God could make the boom boom come. I told him that we could talk to God any time we wanted by praying. I let him know he could pray and ask God for the Boom boom to come.

I was packing up our stuff so I walked out of the room for a few seconds. When I came back in, Liam had his hands folded and he was saying "Boom Boom come?" It took me by surprise a little bit seeing him pray by himself. It was one of the sweet little daily blessings of parenting.

Next he wanted to include me, "Mommy ask God, boom boom come?" So I stopped and prayed with him.

Then I was really praying for boom boom to come, seeing how much he wanted it,

and knowing the chances were slim.

We left to run our errands, and low and behold when we came out of the store and were walking to the car, she sky was dark grey. There were huge flashes of Lighting and a loud low grumble. "Boom Boom!"

"God heard your prayer, Liam! Did you hear the boom boom?"

Liam's face brightened as he listened to the thunder.

After that he kept repeating "Ask God, boom boom come! Ask God boom boom come!"

It just made me smile.

Praise our heavenly father for revealing his greatness to a 23 month old. What a wonderful opportunity for me to explain to Liam that God hears our prayers. We can talk to him about anything, and he hears us. The answer may not always be yes, but what a comfort and peace we should have knowing that our Lord Jesus hears us when we pray!

The Giese's just got home from Colorado. So we met them over at Oma and Pops' house to play. It was Ella's turn to spend the night so while Will, Pops and I discussed our house buying process, Liam, Oma and Ella made dinner. We had burgers, and they were so yummy.

Sunday Night Will came home from M-Fuge, the Highland Terrace Missions youth camp. Liam had missed him SO badly. I knew I was in trouble when the first day Will was gone Liam told me he missed Daddy and he wanted him to rock rock him. Yikes, this is gonna be a long 10 days!

We made it though, and Liam was super pumped to have daddy back. I let Liam stay up late to make sure that he saw Will when he got home. They played for an hour and a half, running around the apartment before we had to get Liam in bed. It was so sweet to watch Liam take Will from room to room by the hand.

He was so excited he got a bit violent, good thing Daddy can handle the rough housing!

We are SO glad you are back, Will! We missed you!

The Saturday before Will got home we were supposed to meet our ABF (Sunday School) at Cici's for Pizza. We must have picked a bad time because no one was there. I kept asking Liam if he wanted Pizza and he kept saying no. So I decided to go somewhere else, just the two of us. (Of course when we left the cici's parking lot he fussed and said "Pizza") We ended up at McAlister's, It had been a long week and needed some sweet tea. Liam and I had a great dinner just playing at our table.

Well, I wasn't gonna do that! But ...

I should know better than to try to teach my son to spit without Will there to really show him how it is done. After that Ice cream I wanted to make sure we really brushed Liam's teeth well. Ben,Tracy and Debra, let me know if I am wrong, but I just read an article saying that a two year old can use the kids toothpaste instead of the baby stuff, if they can spit, so Liam and I worked on brushing and spitting tonight. It was funny he would spit and nothing would come out. Probably because the baby toothpaste dissolves in his mouth.

We definitely need daddy at the next lesson.

Busted nose!

Liam took a pretty big spill tonight and busted up his nose. He was amazing though, he only cried hard for about 30 seconds. I had just bought a new boo boo ice pack at Hobby Lobby (FYI $.40) in the shape of a Lemonade glass. Liam likes to say the word Lemonade, so it distracted him from the pain I think. We went into the bathroom to wash off his nose and he was smiling by the time we got there. He kept saying "Lemola-lemola-lemola". Later we decided that a special Ice-a-ceamy sundae trip would make everything better,

so we had a date night.

Corn in My Teeth

In watching my son attempt something new tonight, The Holy spirit reminded me of a truth that I needed to hear. While this may be an unorthodox analogy, and to some, let's just say gross, stay with me here.

Tonight at Dinner Liam announced that he wanted to eat his corn ON the cob. Well he didn't actually say those words, it was more like, "No, mommy! This!" as he reached for my corn. His striving to be a big boy, to grow and mature, to be like the adults, has brought him to the conclusion that he needs to do this. Oma handed him half of her corn to give it a try. Liam took a big bite, he successfully pulled off a mouthful of corn. It was buttery and sweet, but Liam soon discovered an unpleasant side effect from eating corn on the cob. It gets in your teeth! Liam picked and poked at his teeth but being his first cob experience wasn't adept in teeth picking just yet. With a concerned look he sucked on his finger, showing all at the table the corn in his two front teeth. "That's okay, keep going." Pops told him, "It'll come out if you keep eating." On a practical side note, if you have corn on the cob in your meal you should eat it first, the corn pulp in your teeth will un-lodge it self as you eat.

Just like Liam we want to grow up, be a big boy, and mature. In wanting to be like our heavenly Father, our walk will inevitably lead us to want to grow, mature, eat the proverbial spiritual meat. Or should I say, the proverbial spiritual corn ON the cob? It's gonna be good. It's gonna be sweet and buttery. But life if full of pulp, that annoying stuff that is stuck in your teeth. You pick and you poke, you run your tongue over it, you drink some of your water, and you even ask someone to give you a tooth pick, but it still won't budge. It is uncomfortable. It is part of living for Christ in a fallen world. It may be something the Lord is asking you to do for Him, to advance his gospel. It may be a certain sin the Lord is calling your to give up, and give over to him. It may be giving up what your colleagues or friends think of you so that you can share Christ. Trying new things in your spiritual life, may cause discomfort. But what good is trying something new if you are just going to stop when it gets uncomfortable? If you stop you won't have experienced it fully. If you started the meal the Lord has cooked up for you with the resolute decision to eat it as he did,

then why not continue as He would.

In Philippians, Paul tells the church in Philippi that they should continue in their faith, even though they were facing some serious corn pulp in their teeth. By pushing through all of that, they stand out from the rest of the people who cut the corn off the cob, just to get by. Paul and the Philippians

got to taste the juicy, sweet, buttery, goodness of our Lord.

Here is how Paul put it:

Philippians 2:12-18: 12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-- not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-- continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. 14 Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16 as you hold out the word of life-- in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing. 17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. 18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.

The Lord may call us to do some uncomfortable things in our walk with him. Keep eating, keep being obedient, push past the un-comfort, to taste the incredible sweetness of our Lord Jesus. Watch how he'll spread your eating habits to those around you.

Other who see you taking a big bit of his Goodness and want to enjoy Him too.

1 Peter 2:2-3 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Be Like Christ

Matthew 5:46 - 6:1 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Romans 12:2 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--

his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Take a Big Bite

In Life... things get stuck in your teeth

1 Peter 3:14-22 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." 15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18 For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 19 through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison 20 who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also-- not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at God's right hand-- with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

The Pool Boy

My big helper, Liam wanted to sweep the pool for Pops. Wow, two summer jobs in one week!

I was just telling Yiayia today that my mom always finds amazing things in Large trash pick up. She'll go knock on the door and ask if it is okay if she takes whatever it is that is laying out on the side of the road. You would be amazed at some of the things she has refurbished, Furn plant stand that I used as a night stand in high school, Big stuffed chair she recovered (Also in my room) even a sewing machine. Anyway, today she saw a train table across the street and down a few doors was a whole swing set. Most of the swing set was falling apart but Oma and Pops saved this swing from it. Liam gave it a

test drive after they were finished with the pool.

Liam invented a new game at bath time tonight. I call it Ducky ball! He noticed the loop the shower head makes and decided to aim his duckies for it.

Since we won't be living in Addison much longer I took Liam to watch the planes this afternoon. It has become one of our families favorite things to do while living here. Liam loves crawling around the car and watching the planes land and take off.

Liam's First Summer Job

Liam started his first summer job today, he ran a car wash. We washed three cars, mine, Oma's and Pops' truck, that is a lot for a little guy. It is the perfect job for Liam because he love playing with the hose. It was also a great way to cool down on such a hot day.

Oma and I were watching Liam play with the hose when Pops came home from work. Pops had a wonderful idea. He Loaded up his three Kayaks in the truck and we headed out to Lake Lewisville to paddle around. It was Liam's first time in a boat. He had seen tons of boats in Destin but didn't get in one. He was talking about his special boat ride all the way to the lake.

Oma and Liam watched Pops secure the boats in the truck.

A garage for the CAT

This morning I suggested to Liam that we make a garage for his cars with his blocks. I came and sat down with him and asked which car we were going to put in the garage. He got up and ran out of the room and came back with his huge CAT Bulldozer. It took all the blocks we had

In View of a Call

Saturday Morning we had a meet and greet time with the students and their parents. Liam had a great time running around the Lighthouse (The student Building)

The students loved him. He was all over the place,

so I didn't get to take lots of pictures but here is what I have.

We stayed in Brother Bobby's Back house Saturday night. It had a huge shower without a door, which meant that Liam loved it. He would run in and out, in and out.

There was also a Wii. Since Will and I had never played before and we are going to have to take on some well practiced students we thought we should try it out. We played tennis, baseball, golf and bowled.

I did manage to remember to snap a picture before the Sunday service Started. I am so bummed I forgot to give some one my camera. Maybe we can get a pic next time we go. Which will be very soon, since Will was voted in 98%! WOW! What an overwhelming welcome!

We went to the last day of VBS at Highland Terrace. The night of the last day they had a big service where the kiddos all sang songs. Brother Bobby, spoke afterward and introduced Will to the people there. I snapped a picture while Will was up there, which turned out to be good because this past weekend, I forgot to give someone my camera so I don't have any pictures of us in front of the church for the in view of a call Sunday.

They had really decorated. Everything looked so good!

hedge of protection around our children.

The last few weeks or maybe months have been crazy in the Crum home. It looks as though the action is just beginning. Last night Will was voted in as the new Student Pastor of Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville, Texas. We spent this past weekend getting to know some of the students and their parents. We had a wonderful time and felt the warmth and welcome from everyone. Will and I are now in the process of finding a new place to live, transferring our lives and home to Greenville. Will is going with the students to M-Fuge, a mission trip camp, in a few days. Thank you for all the prayers and encouragement as Will and I waited for the Lords direction these past two years. We are so excited to see what God is going to do in the Highland Terrace Student Ministry. I know that is is going to be a wonderful thing to be a part of.

It was a bit rainy on the 3rd, but that hasn't ever stopped us from venturing to Kaboom Town in Addison before. We busted out Liam's rain coat and loaded him in to his red wagon to see the fireworks.

The Bevers moving day

We didn't even make it out of Houston! Liam Crashed after the party. We drove to Huntsville and saw the Bevers' new home. They were moving on the day we were driving home. The house is super cute and it was fun to have a little dinner with them on their big moving day.

The Crums took an adventure to Houston to help the Lands Celebrate Ellie's first Birthday. Jeni pulled some strings and we somehow ended up staying in the Omni! It was AMAZING! Liam got into some interesting things while staying in this super fancy room.

When we got there they gave Liam a little backpack with toys in it. He loved it. We showed him how to wear it. He had never put one on before.

While Will and I were setting up the pack n play we hear Liam in the bathroom. Then we hear the toilet flush. I always run to the bathroom when I hear that, never knowing what I will find.

I was browsing through "Mommy Lobby" (My mom's fabrics)

When I saw this precious Red, White and Blue fabric, mom and I thought that this would be a cute fourth of July outfit. With mom's help I busted out my sewing machine and made Liam this romper. Liam played well in it. I discovered the next Sunday that it looks better and stays on his shoulders better with a polo under it. But it was perfect for this hot, hot day!

After I finished the romper, I got a little braver. I wanted to make little Ellie Land, Who just turned one, a little dress. I found this cute fabric also at Mommy Lobby, but you can find it at JoAnns too. In Florida I saw these dresses called Pillowcase dresses. My mom sent me a Link to A blog called freshly picked. (It is now on my blog links) It told me how to make it.

Baby Paup's Shower

Will, Liam and I traveled to Austin for Brooke and Spivey's co-ed baby shower. On the way we took a pit stopwhere I went to school, Baylor University. Will's favorite coffee shop is just across the street from my Family Consumer Science Building.

Common Grounds is the home of Cowboy Coffee, Will's drink, and the Summer Sparkler, my drink.

Common Grounds has a motto on all their cups, they also make shirts and mugs that say

Sleep is overrated" I think Liam has adopted that motto.

I was checking out what they had done to the place since I left and discovered a Parrot outside on the back porch. One of the baristas came out and put him on Will's arm for us. Liam was checking him out.

Next we drove over to see if the bears were out. I wanted Liam to see them so badly. It was a bit hot for the bears but we saw them sleeping in the cave.

They have redone the bear pit. It looks really nice.

They have two play areas and several caves to hide out in.

Will and I were making Bear growls and I think they were too realistic for Liam. He got a little scared. Later he was perfecting his growl too.

The shower was very kid friendly, they had all sorts of toys outside to play with. Liam made some new friends and enjoyed the croquet. (He must have some Hammond in him)

On the way home we stopped again to check on the bears.

They were out but the sun was going down so the pictures were too dark.

The long drive home

The ride home was harder than going there, but isn't it always.

We spent the first 30 minutes pointing out boats, after this trip Liam has a new love for boats.

Will kept things fun with a spontaneous tickle. Liam's laugh turned into a scream.

Then Liam hit a wall.

He was not happy! He was exhausted from all the sun and running around. He fell asleep with his lip out.

He sank lower and lower. I Learned from this that the chest latch needs to be a lot higher, it helps them not slouch over when trying to sleep. I also learned that Liam is very flexible!

He woke up in a much better mood and we had a kept on driving. He is a champ in the car. I think he is tired of it now though.

One of Liam's favorite things right now is water and playing with hoses. At the beach there are hoses to wash the sand off. Once he knew that he was draging one of us back to the hoses every 10 minutes. The last day we let Liam wash wash or "awsh awsh" as he says, all the sand toys. He and Will had a spray war. He LOVED it!

Our Last Day at the Beach

The last day we relaxed at the beach! We tried to soak it all up.

South African Sea Weed! We found out from a local that this seaweed is called June Grass and it travels all the way from the coast of south Africa to get to us in Destin.

I felt the need to build one more thing. I had already done a road, tunnel, castle and drip castle, so the only thing left was a chair for Liam.

A Throne to be exact. The lady in front of us asked us what we were building. She gave us an awkward look when we said thrown. Prince Liam of Destin.

The Best Date Night!

Last year we discovered the Harbor walk where we ate at Harry T's. We sat on the back porch and watched the sunset while we ate our fresh fish, and happened to go on the night that they had Fireworks. If you know me you know I LOVE Fireworks!!!! So what better for our date night then to do it all over again. In December Will had received a 1/2 birthday card from Harry T's for a free entree so even better one of us ate for free! This time we made it in time for the Airshow. I have never seen an airshow like this before. Or maybe I haven't seen one since I have had the attention span to watch what was going on.

I was worried that Will was going to miss it because he was parking the car. But We found each other in the crowd, Will quickly informed me of the type of planes they were. Normally I wouldn't have known what he was talking about but since we just went to the Addison Cavanaugh Flight museum, I knew what a WWII T-6 was. (If you want to go look at the post, it is the yellow plane we watched taxi out of the museum.) They are trainers. We found a cozy spot by the marina to watch the planes over the water. There was a live band behind us while we waited for our seats at Harry T's.

I couldn't zoom out far enough to show how they were circling. It was incredible! I can't imagine how scary it would be during the war.

It is fun to watch the planes with Will, he loves them so much!

Enjoying the night already!

Me and my virgin pina colada, it had a Giraffe and a purple pick in it. I think that is how they do all drinks or it could be just the ones they think are for children. Will and I laugh because I discovered how much I loved virgin pina colada's on our honeymoon. When the bartender at the pool saw me coming he would have one made for me by the time I got there. Besides the fact that I don't drink, what is better than fresh pineapple and coconut. Really,Why mess it up with anything else!

Just like last year we got a wonderful table and watched the sunset, it was beautiful!

At Sunset at Harry T's they have a little kid shoot off the sunset cannon. I took a video of it but you can't hear it because it was with my small camera. You can tell how loud it is though because I jump even though I know it is coming.

AJ's (The place were we eat after the big fishing trips) has a pirate ship that they take people out on. I thought of James and his Pirate party. He would have enjoyed seeing the ship!

The night ended with my one of my favorite things! FIREWORKS! YEA!

We had just finished our meal and our waitress let us stay at our table to watch. It was Beautiful.

Turns out they do it every Thursday night! What fun.

Castle in the Sand

The Bevers has part of the next day to play one the beach before they had to get back for James' graduation. So Baby Kyle took a nap next to Uncle Kyle (Gov'na) while he studied for School, Petroleum Engineering.

Is BP a bad word?

Is BP a bad word? In Florida is sure is! I snapped this picture one day as we passed the BP gas station. Cherp Cherp Cherp... not a soul was there. The rhetoric surrounding the company BP in Destin, Florida was, well, let's just say less than friendly. The majority of the people there depend on the ocean for their lively hood. While I am positive that some horrible choices were made by some big wigs that cost not only billions of dollars to the economy, unfathomable damage to the Lord's beautiful creation and worst of all precious human lives, I can't help but think that is wasn't the owner of this stations fault. Will made a good point as we past. It may not even be BP's oil in that pump, it all depends on who delivers that day. So some poor station owner is getting ignored while we could be buying up all of BP's product over at Shell. While in Florida the severity of the situation was evident. Every time I think about it, I feel so sad. Every time I think about it I realize the only thing I can do about it is pray!

Lord, Give us wisdom and ingenuity to fix our mistakes, and grace where we have failed in the stewardship of the blessings you have entrusted to us. Take care of the families of those who lost loved ones, the families of those losing jobs and business. Protect your creation from our recklessness, Lord.

Thank you for giving us breath, each day to enjoy you! You are worthy of praise in all situations! Amen

After we ate Dinner down on the beach we were cleaning up the tent and chairs. Two guys came by with fishing gear and a kayak. Will found out that one of them kayaks some bait and the fishing line out past the sand bar, while the other holds the rod. It didn't take long for something to bite. It did however take awhile for the guy to get it in. When everyone saw that it was a shark a large crowd began to gather. James, Liam and I checked it out. The shark was about the size of James. Heidi looked at our pictures and said that it is a Mako shark and that they are usually friendly and calm. I did find on Wiki, that no shark attacks have been attributed to Makos. Still when the guys were trying to get the hook out he looked mad. They eventually unhooked it and let him swim back out to sea. Will caught a video of it with our small camera. (It doesn't have audio)

The Donut Hole: Twice!

Will had never been to the Donut Hole, where Kyle and I had taken the boys while they were fishing. So one morning the Crums had a family breakfast. We where at the same table. It was fun, if you are ever there it is a fun place to eat.

We spent the afternoon and evening at the beach as well. It was the best time to be there. Less people, Sun isn't to direct and hot. Not to mention it was beautiful. Will grilled some hot dogs and we had a picnic at the beach. It was so fun!
