McGuire's

Every year we go to McGuire's in Destin. It is an Irish pub and Grill with all sorts of burgers and a crazy menu. They have one dollar bills hanging from the ceiling and all over the walls.

family pictures

We ordered Blue Cheese chips for a started and to my surprise Liam liked the blue cheese. This is him saying blue cheese for the camera.
You can decorate your own Dollar and staple it up on the wall. Yiayia put the boys names and date on hers.

Liam took this picture I think he did a good job but there might be some blue cheese on the lens

Liam helped Yiayia staple up her dollar

There is a tradition of Kissing a moose on the wall. Liam did it last year and this year  Max joined in. It icks me out a bit but hey, If you know me, you know how I feel about traditions.
This is Liam Last year. He looks so little and has no hair. Oh how time flies!

We visited the gift shop and took some pictures for our Irish grandmas!
This one is for you Gigi and Nana!
We Love you both!

My wee lad, Liam, felt right at home in the Irish paraphernalia,
where no one asked what his name was twice! ;)

Special Family Time

It was so fun that Liam is old enough now to enjoy doing different things and going places. We had a chance to have some special family time with him, while in Destin.

We swam at the pool a lot. It was a nice break from the crashing waves, a bit calmer for Liam.

Daddy and Liam having fun!

One evening we took Liam down to the beach. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I think that if his bad would have been right there we could have laid him down. He sat on Will's lap and stared at the ocean. It was a  sweet time.

As it got darker we played in the dry sand a little, too.

Cheese!

Will and Liam drawing shapes in the sand

After the busy day of playing hard, I think Liam liked the beach at night as much as Will and I did.

A nice lady offered to take our picture. Liam is already in a wave induced trance.

Daddy's Fishin' trip

Yiayia, Cece  and Will took a fishing trip early in the morning one day. While they were out Kyle and I took the boys to The Donut Hole. Last year there was a line out the door when we went, I think the boys woke up so much earlier than the rest of Destin that we beat the crowd this year. After another nap  for Max and some mommy-Liam beach time, we went to pick them up at the Marina. We ate lunch at AJ's  and then everyone came back for a nap. It was neat watch Liam's fascination with boats grow. He kept calling every big boat Daddy's boat!

Liam is telling Gov'na (Uncle Kyle) about what a goose says.

The Bird, Fish and Ducks

YiaYia took Liam fishing one afternoon on the dock by our condo. Will and I weren't there but everyone said he was reeling them in left and right. A friendly blue herrin saw an oppertunity for a free snack. Liam fed a couple of his fishes to the herrin. He loves to imitate the bird, on how he gobbled up the fish. Will and I arrived just in time to see it slowly sneak away with the last fish.

Max was there supporting his cuz!
I love this sweet picture of him.
The other highlight of Liam's fishing trip was the baby ducks. or baby guks as he calls them.

Liam Goes to the Beach

Our first morning at the beach Liam had a blast! We played in the sand and covered our feet.

We built a ramp for Liam's truck to drive down to the water on.

Happy Liam!

Max's first time on the sand.

Liam's Big Road Trip!

On the way to Florida we divided the long drive in two. If made everything so much easier on Liam. Will and I stopped in Alexandria and stayed the night. Liam slept off and on in the pack-n-play all night. In the morning he had a special treat... cable! He got to watch Mickey Mouse, while we packed everything back up. What a fun treat.

The day before we left Liam fell and busted his lip. This was him showing me is boo boo

He didn't let that keep him down though.  Daddy's tickling always brings a big laugh
Nicole had given me some great ideas to occupy a toddler in the car. I gave Liam some scotch tape to play with. he had fun unrolling it and sticking it to his feet. Another big hit was pipe cleaners.

We made it!
After we brought all our stuff into the condo we went to check out the beach.
There is a restaurant called the back porch. They have a playground on the beach and people can wait on the beach for the tables which all have a beach view.

Liam, coloring his menu

It was so beautiful, there was a storm coming in from both sides and there was a magnificent lightening show.
Liam was a bit nervous about the boom booms but after a few of them he thought it was cool.
Cece and I had the good seats to watch the lightening show.

It felt good to be there and we couldn't wait to jump on the beach the next morning.

Parenthood- "Please"

Through my almost two years of motherhood I have noticed a little bit of cruel and unusual punishment going on. No doubt as a result of the fall, Will and my relationship with Liam has a bit of a what goes around comes around feeling to it, i.e. sleep, discipline and messes. Praise the Lord, this phenomenon is not only in the difficulties but also the blessings, cuddles, kisses, and spirituality.  While the blessings we will cherish in our hearts, it is the hardships that make for funny stories.

For the past several months, I have had the monumental task of helping another human being learn to speak. In terms of speech and etiquette, my goal is to have a little boy that all the other parents say, "That Liam is such a polite young man!", or  "I appreciate how that Crum boy knows how to speak to adults". I believe that we are all made in the image of God, which makes us all valuable. Everyone, is precious to God and I want our children to treat people as such. Once Liam's utterances turned into recognizable words, some of which are still on the way, I decided to start manners from the get go. The obvious were yes, ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir and no sir, please and thank you.  I will start there I thought.
Please was one of the first to catch on, mainly because we did the sign language before he could talk. He soon left out the sign for more all together and just said please.

We are still working on the ma'ams and sirs but with please... he is already a pro.
By pro I mean he now has taught himself how to turn this well meaning manners-police-mommy into mush by using my own words against me. I now understand the phrase, "be careful what you wish for."

When Liam REALLY wants something he will say please one of two ways.
One is kin to Roger Rabbit's Pppppppleeeeeeaaaaase, with huge puppy dog eyes to go along with it. Depending on what he wants I can most of the time resist this adorable evil, but the one that almost always gets me goes something like this...
Big smile, Bigger Eyes, with eye brows at the top of his forehead. He names what he wants and then quickly says "yes, please" in his high pitched almost two year old voice. The, You know you want to say yes, look kills me every time. He did it to me today, it makes me smile every time. Whether or not he knows he is manipulating me, or whether this is just his happy little way of showing me what he wants is fun, remains to be seen. There is a little victory dance going on inside me though, since he is using the word. Baby steps, right?

I know that this is only the beginning of communication with my son what will send waves of emotions that run the gamete over my feeble and sleep deprived brain. I know I must find strength to deal with the cuteness as well as the not so. What I have learned thus far is this, Parenthood is an adventure made up of little triumphs and failures.  I'll take my pleases' by a case by case basis. But when it comes to parenthood as a whole, all I can say right now is...
By the grace of God, Go I!

Destin Florida 2010

Last week we returned from Destin Florida. We spent a whole week there. The Oil stayed away long enough for us to enjoy the beautiful white sands. Liam did such a great job while away from home. He is such a trooper. He loved the beach and ocean. I have tons of strories and pictures to share, but loading them could take a while. I can't wait to share more with you. Look for more Destin entries soon.  Love you all! Jenny

Total Distruction

Liam is now the master of distruction, he has been working on it for a while but I heard a lot of clamering in the den and came out to see that he had dumped out his music basket so he could sit in it.

Wow

Maybe my mom can scan and send it to me, but I know that there is a picture of me just like this.
Like mommy Like son.
FYI: he cleaned up his mess!
Sweet boy.

Balloons!

On the way home on Memorial day we spoted some hot sir balloons. Liam had never seen one before and he is still talking about it.

One was deflating and the other was being blown up
Cool flags

The sun was bright but We watched it until it took off

There they go

Liam loved the "hot-a moon"

A few days ago Liam and I picked up Will to take him to lunch.
Chick-fil-a gave him a balloon.

How fun! In the car ride home he discovered Electricity.

Memorial Day

We had a rare treat of having Daddy at home on memorial day. So Liam had a full fun day of treats.

Liam and his lollipop... oooo what a treat!

We went to a splash park in the morning. Liam had sunscreen in his hair is was a bit baby Einstien-ish.

After nap we went to Yiayia and Kiwi's Max and Liam (and Baby drew too.) took a trip to the neighborhood pool.
