The State Fair of opened last week. Will and I were going to go with out sunday school class but were unable to work out the schedules. I think we might try again in a few weeks. Will and I have had a tradition to go to the state fair for years so we decided to go on our own. We rode the DART rail from George Bush. Liam wasn't so sure about the handicapped entrance
but after a few stops he was loving the swaying and horn.
The sun was super bright
We have to get a corny dog, Liam had his snack while we ate ours
Last year mom and Dad told us to go to the bird show. It was really great and we have decided to include that in our yearly traditions. Will was picked as a volunteer in the show. A crow flew to his arm and took money out of his hand.
This was a beautiful hawk. It had three different browns on the wings.
Who?
When we left the Bird show there was a bagpipe band playing across the street. Liam was dancing (Swaying) to the music.
We discovered the Butterfly house just after the bagpipes. I was sad to find out we just missed the sale of the last ticket of the day. Maybe next year.
Liam and a HUGE Brahman... HUGE
We found where the dog jumping contest was, it wasn't going on but we found this statue of a puppy.
Liam loved him.
I thought this Llama was so funny.
Liam's favorite thing of the whole fair was the car show! We went from car to car letting him drive.
Will said I could pick a sweet treat, The fair is known for all its fried foods. Every year it is something new. This year the winner of the contest was fried peaches and cream but the one that made the news was fried butter. I picked one that I knew I liked from last year. Fried S'more. Melted chocolate, melted marshmallow, graham cracker, and funnel cake batter... What is not to like?
We would usually stay for the light/laser show but it was getting late and we needed to get Liam home. We wanted to beat the crowd on the DART rail so we headed out.
Liam was all hyped up on the train ride home, but on the car ride to our apartment be fell asleep right way.
It was a great day! We had wonderful family time.
